The Center for Civil Society Promotion (CCSP), BiH, and the Center for Democratic Transition, Montenegro in cooperation with the NGO Alfa Center, Montenegro implemented the project Youth Network Nikšić – Sarajevo.

Forty students, 10 students of the third grade of Gymnasium Dobrinja, 10 students of the third grade of Gymnasium and Secondary Vocational School East Ilidža, and 20 third grade students from two Nikšić secondary schools participated.

The project was launched to create a long-lasting friendship between the residents of Nikšić, Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, encourage communication and exchange of experiences in the region and develop an awareness of common goals between the two countries.

Through a direct connection of 40 students, with the help of their parents, teachers and school principals staff project Youth Network Nikšić – Sarajevo aimed to:

  • Help create lasting connections and cooperation between students from the two countries, as well as the schools they attend.
  • Help students discover identities outside of their group identities.
  • Encourage greater engagement of young people in the civil and democratic life of their countries.

Project activities were:

  • Creating a Web web portal
  • Establishment of Network offices in schools
  • Visit of students from Nikšić to Sarajevo and East Sarajevo (04.2011)
  • Summer school Tjentište / Plužine (06.2011)
  • Visit of students from BiH to Nikšić (09.2011)

During the project, students had the opportunity to develop technical skills such as website administration and project writing, build positive attitudes about other cultures, and learn more about the value system of democracy and open through workshops, sports and debate competitions, and other forms of non-formal education. society, as well as European values.

Within the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program BiH – Montenegro, 85% of the total value of this project is co-financed by the European / European Union.
